Research Focus

The research in my laboratory focuses on biofilm formation by foodborne bacterial pathogens, with special emphasis on Bacillus cereus and Listeria monocytogenes. Our goal is to understand the mechanisms of attachment and biofilm formation and environmental factors that affect these processes, and to develop strategies for control.

Current projects include:

* Virulence factors of Bacillus cereus.
* Plasma modification of surfaces to inhibit biofilm formation by foodborne pathogens.
* Biofilm formation and control.
* Microbial clogging of on-site waste disposal systems.
